Irish Start-up Makes Breakthrough in Photonics

Eblana Photonics, a newly established provider of laser products to the telecommunications industry, has announced a new generation of transmitter source and high power pump lasers for optical communications. The products, which Eblana says will enable communication system manufacturers to meet the ongoing demand for greater communications bandwidth faster and more cost effectively, will be unveiled this week in Amsterdam, at the European Conference on Optical Communications. Eblana will be exhibiting in Hall 2, Stand No. 2207. James O'Gorman and John Hegarty established Eblana Photonics earlier this year. The company was born out of a Photonics Advanced Research Programme at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, in conjunction with the Irish National Microelectronic Research Centre.
